Dr. Shawna Tyler was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta where she completed her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with distinction from the University of Alberta. While completing her undergraduate degree she competed as a national-level track and field heptathlete as a member of the UofA varsity team.
Shawna completed her Doctor of Chiropractic cum laude with clinic honours from Toronto’s Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 2005. Soon after graduating, Dr. Tyler returned to Alberta and opened her own clinic in Calgary practicing in that community for 14 years.
Newly married in 2017 and blessed with a beautiful newborn son in 2018, Shawna and her new family relocated to Penticton, in the heart of interior BC, seizing an opportunity to raise her family and serve people in this incredible community.
As a high performance athlete, Shawna developed first-hand understanding of the debilitating effects of ongoing pain as she suffered from chronic low back pain from an early age. Her history of successful rehabilitation in her chiropractic practice and personal experience has strengthened her belief that everyone can have a life free of limitations and free of pain.
Shawna’s approach toward treatment is three-fold: one part detective work, one part physical skill, and one part connection.
Taking the time to listen and understand the broader perspective and root cause of injury, Shawna draws on her extensive experience to determine the best course of treatment. Treatments often combine chiropractic manipulation and soft-tissue therapies including Active Release Technique (ART), Graston Technique and Kinesiotaping.
Shawna believes in empowering people by teaching them the nature of their condition, outlining her treatment game plan in a simple way, and sharing simple tools and practical techniques to help patients participate in their own recovery.
